For 2010, Aston Martin adds a convertible model, the Volante, to the DBS Coupe that was all-new for 2009.
The DBS models use a mid-mounted 6.0-litre V12 engine with rear-mounted six-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed automatic. Both use lightweight bodies composed of a bonded aluminum structure, extruded aluminum impact beams, and a composite shell.
Features on the Coupe include 20-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, xenon headlamps, LED taillights and side-mounted signals, limited-slip differential, tilt and telescopic steering column, Adaptive Damping System with track mode, ventilated carbon ceramic brake discs with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, leather and Alcantara interior, carbon fibre door trims and pulls, auto-dimming rearview mirror, garage door opener, heated sports seats with ten-way power adjustment and memory, trip computer, cruise control, navigation system, premium six-CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, Bluetooth connectivity, power-folding exterior mirrors, front and rear parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring system, and umbrella with holder.
The Volante adds a power-operated soft roof, wind deflector, and a pen holder with Lamy pen.

If you are amped up and aching to be one of the lucky few to slide behind the wheel of the Aston Martin Rapide, you better put a rush on that. This luxury event is being held February 8th and 9th only, from 10 am to 7 pm and space is certainly limited.

The 2010 Rapide made its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in concept form, and now it is en route to showrooms.
Several components of the Aston Martin DB9 made their way to the Rapide, such as the classic Aston grille, covered headlights and fender vents. The 2010 Rapide also features essentially the same 5,935cc V12 engine as the DB9, although output is expected to increase to approximately 500 horsepower.

Road draught disarrays the coiffure. Plus, convertibles are for chicks (okay, Bond did once drive a Sunbeam Alpine, worse than unholstering a Hello Kitty edition Walther PPK).And that slippery roofline is the best part of an Aston’s bod. Cut it off, and it looks like Heidi Klum after her coiffure has been cleaved by a Norelco.But, oh, what a ride.The aluminum-constructed Vantage, Aston’s smallest and lowest-priced car, is the triggerfish in the company’s lineup. Switchblade steering, neutral corner trajectories, strong brakes, and a bull V-8 that serenades with Italian arias are all yours for just $122,950 for the stick-shift coupe, $135,950 for a base roadster. The Sportshift paddle-operated six-speed adds $3600, the first of many items on the option buffet.The hot number pictured here with a caramel-toned interior has $15,320 in extras—24 separate line items. In a car that costs more than two BMW M3s, xenon headlamps take another $795, and cruise control is $450. What Aston calls “fine stitching” fine-tunes the price by $220.Aston is only emulating Porsche with its have-it-your-way pricing smorgasbord. However, if you must special order a Vantage because the dealer lacks one with the $145 first-aid kit, consider subbing a $3 box of Band-Aids.Noteworthy changes for 2009: The 380-hp, 4.3-liter twin-cam V-8 is now a whirling 420-hp 4.7, the bore and stroke an even 91 millimeters after growing 2mm and 5mm, respectively. The 60-mph sprint drops from the low fives to a heady 4.5 seconds with this paddle-shift Sportshift. Torque rises by 45 pound-feet to 347. The peaky V-8—we once called it the Honda S4000—now answers with more gusto below 4000 rpm. On a twisty uphill climb, you don’t have to jockey whip it as often to the 7300-rpm limit.Rally specialists Prodrive, one of Aston Martin’s new owners, worked suspension tricks—stiffer bushings, revised shock mounts—to improve steering response, low-speed ride, and high-speed body control. The gusseted aluminum tub is as stiff as the grandfatherly waiters at Simpson’s on the Strand in London. The 20 seconds it takes to automatically stow the softtop under its sleek twin-fairing cover are 20 good reasons to play the lottery. Driving with the top up, we encountered some wind noise around the driver’s side glass, a squeak in the parcel shelf, and some daunting blind spots.The Sportshift is an older, single-clutch Magneti Marelli system similar to Ferrari’s. We admire the Vantage’s crawl feature, which makes it easier to inch up to a parking log without accidental impact. And with new programming, the gearbox better butters over the acceleration sags between gears. It even knows via the steering-wheel angle when to postpone upshifts in corners. Celebrating the enormous success of the DBS and V12 Vantage which have surpassed all sales expectations since launch, the new special editions add a typically understated flair to these acclaimed models. Featuring bespoke Carbon Black metallic paint especially formulated with a subtle metallic twist to create a deep rich patina. Each car will undergo 50 man-hours of hand painting followed by stringent quality checks. For the V12 Vantage the iconic Aston Martin side strake has been fashioned from real carbon fibre backed by a black mesh and complimented with gloss black 10 spoke diamond turned alloy wheels. The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, often shortened to Vanquish, was designed by Ian Callum, and is a grand tourer manufactured by Aston Martin. From its 2001 introduction to its cancellation, it was Aston Martin’s flagship vehicle. Its rise to recognition by the wider public came after being featured as the official James Bond car in Die Another Day, the twentieth James Bond film.

The Vanquish was developed in the wake of a GT concept car, the Project Vantage concept car, which debuted with a V-12 engine at the North American International Auto Show in January 1998. The production model was unveiled in 2000, and series production began in 2001 (the car arrived in the United States as a 2002 model).
